Messages
Learn how to use the InterMIND chat to communicate with your team and meeting participants.

Sending Messages
Text Messages
- Open the Chat panel from the meeting sidebar, or pick a channel from the Channels page
- Type your message in the input field at the bottom
- Press Enter or click the Send button
Messages are delivered instantly to all participants.
Message Formatting
Messages support basic formatting:
- Standard text input
- Emoji support (use your system emoji picker or type emoji codes)
- URLs are automatically converted to clickable links
Editing Messages
You can edit your own messages after sending:
- Hover over the message you want to edit
- Click the Edit (pencil) icon
- A fullscreen editor opens with a rich-text toolbar (bold, italic, strikethrough, headings, lists, blockquotes, links, code blocks)
- Modify the text
- Click Save to confirm or Cancel to discard
Important notes:
- Only the message author can edit their messages
- The "(edited)" indicator appears only when the actual text content changes — formatting-only changes (e.g., adding bold) do not mark the message as edited
- Translation is re-triggered when text changes, but preserved on format-only edits
Viewing Edit History
Readers can see what changed: open the chat's display-settings menu (gear icon in the chat header) and enable Show Edit History. Edited messages then show their previous versions above the current text as word-level diffs, each with its own timestamp. When you read a message in translation, the diff is built between translated versions, not the original language. The preference is per-device.
Deleting Messages
To delete a message you sent:
- Hover over the message
- Click the Delete (trash) icon
- Confirm the deletion
Deleted messages are removed for all participants.
Host delete: The meeting host can delete any participant's message — the same Delete option in the message menu is available on others' messages when you're the host.
Replying to Messages
Open a message's context menu and choose Reply. The reply is staged as a chip above the input; send it like a normal message. The quoted block in the sent message is clickable and scrolls readers to the original.
If you select part of a message's text before clicking Reply, only the selected text is quoted — otherwise the whole message is. Transcript messages can be replied to as well.
Forwarding Messages
Two ways to forward:
- Context menu — open a message's menu → Forward and pick a target channel from the submenu. Targets are channels you belong to, plus your own Inbox (shown as "Saved (Inbox)").
- Drag and drop — drag the message bubble onto a channel in the sidebar. The row highlights when it will accept the drop.
Forwarding stages a draft in the target chat rather than sending immediately: a chip appears above that chat's input ("Forward N messages"), you can type a comment, and the forward goes out with your Send. Discard it with the chip's ×.
What to know:
- Forwarded messages carry a "Forwarded from {name}" label with the original author's name; the copy is sent by you
- Reactions, pins, and edit history do not travel with the forward
- Text, images, and files can be forwarded; transcripts can't (the menu explains this)
- A recap document forwards as a link — opening it still requires being a member of the source meeting
- Forwarding a message that's part of a selection forwards the whole selection; a photo album forwards as one unit
Selecting Multiple Messages
Drag on blank space in the message list (beside or between bubbles) to select whole messages — dragging on the text itself keeps normal text selection. On touch devices, tap messages to toggle them once selection is active.
A selection bar appears at the bottom with the count and bulk actions:
- Forward — forward the whole selection to a channel
- Delete — delete all selected messages after one confirmation; available only when every selected message is yours (or you're the host). When it's locked, the bar explains why
- Cancel — or press Escape, or click blank space, to clear the selection
Right-clicking a selected message shows the same selection-scoped actions instead of the single-message menu.
Notes
Send rich-text notes in the chat for longer, formatted content:
- Click the "+" button next to the message input
- Select Add Note
- A fullscreen editor opens with a toolbar: headings (H1–H3), bold, italic, strikethrough, lists, blockquotes, links, code blocks
- Write your note and click Send
Notes are stored as HTML files and rendered in a sandboxed preview within the chat. You can edit a note later via the Edit Note option in the message menu.
Reactions
React to any message with emoji:
- Hover over a message
- Click the React (smiley face) icon
- Select an emoji from the picker
- Your reaction appears below the message
Multiple participants can react to the same message, and reactions are grouped by emoji with a count.
Pinning Messages
Pin important messages so they're easy to find:
- Hover over the message
- Click the Pin icon
- The message is highlighted and accessible from the pinned messages section
To view pinned messages:
- Look for the Pinned indicator or filter in the chat panel
- Pinned messages remain at the top or in a separate section for easy access
To unpin:
- Click the Unpin icon on a pinned message
Message History
Viewing History
All messages are stored permanently:
- Scroll up in the chat to load older messages
- Messages load in batches as you scroll
- The full history is preserved even after meetings end
Searching Messages
Use the search functionality to find specific messages:
- Type keywords in the search bar
- Results show matching messages with context
- Click a result to jump to that message in the chat
Chat Notifications
You'll receive notifications for new messages:
- In-app badge — Unread message count appears on the chat icon
- Browser tab title — The tab title updates to reflect unread chats
