Meeting Defaults
Meeting Defaults
InterMIND remembers your preferences between sessions. These defaults are applied every time you join a meeting, so you don't have to configure them each time.
How Defaults Work
Most meeting defaults are stored locally in your browser. They persist across sessions but are per-browser — if you use InterMIND on a different browser or device, you'll need to set them again.
Defaults are set by toggling options during a meeting or in the pre-join dialog. Your last choice becomes the new default.
Audio & Video Defaults
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | On | Whether your camera is enabled when joining |
| Microphone | On | Whether your microphone is enabled when joining |
| Selected camera | System default | Which camera device to use |
| Selected microphone | System default | Which microphone device to use |
| Selected speaker | System default | Which audio output device to use |
| Self-view | On | Whether you see your own video tile |
Changing Device Defaults
- Open the pre-join dialog before entering a meeting
- Use the device dropdowns to select your camera, microphone, and speaker
- Your selections are saved for future meetings
Or during a meeting:
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the camera or microphone button
- Select a different device
- The new device becomes your default
Translation & Subtitles Defaults
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Translation | On | Whether real-time translation is active |
| Subtitles | On | Whether subtitles are displayed |
| Transcription | On | Whether speech transcription is active |
| Statistics overlay | Off | Whether WebRTC statistics are shown |
Changing Translation Defaults
Toggle these features during a meeting using the control bar:
- Click the Translation button to toggle translation on/off
- Click the Subtitles button to show/hide subtitles
- Click the Transcription button to enable/disable transcription
Your choice is remembered for the next meeting.
Pre-Join Dialog
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Show pre-join dialog | On | Whether the setup dialog appears before joining meetings |
The pre-join dialog lets you preview your camera or check audio settings before entering a meeting. If you disable it, you'll join meetings directly with your saved defaults.
Chat Display Defaults
These settings control how the chat panel appears during meetings:
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Transcription display | Collapsed | How transcription text appears: collapsed, expanded, or hidden |
| Show edit history | On | Whether to show message edit history |
| Show only pinned | Off | Filter to only show pinned messages |
| Show files | On | Whether file attachments are visible in chat |
| Show screenshots | On | Whether screenshots are visible in chat |
| Show translation | On | Whether translated messages are shown |
Idle Auto-Leave
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Idle auto-leave | On | Automatically leave the meeting after 15+ minutes of inactivity |
When enabled, if you've been idle (no camera, microphone, or screen share activity) for 15 minutes, you'll be prompted and then automatically removed from the meeting. This helps free up resources and slots when you accidentally leave a meeting tab open.
Sidebar Widths
The widths of panel sidebars are remembered between sessions:
| Panel | Default Width | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Chat list sidebar | 390px | 280 – 800px |
| Meeting chat panel | 450px | 300 – 1,500px |
| Participants panel | 350px | 250 – 600px |
Resize a panel by dragging its edge, and the width is saved for next time.
Resetting Defaults
There's no single "reset all" button for meeting defaults. To reset a specific default:
- Change the setting during a meeting to your desired value
- The new value is saved as the default
To reset to factory defaults, clear your browser's local storage for the InterMIND site:
- Open browser Developer Tools (F12)
- Go to Application → Local Storage
- Clear all
