How to forward, select and bulk-delete messages in a team chat — and move through the history from the keyboard (2026)

Housekeeping in a team chat is four moves in InterMIND: forward a message or a whole thread to another channel or to your Inbox (from the menu, or by dragging it onto the channel), select several messages by dragging on blank space, delete the selection after one confirmation, and page through the history with PageUp, PageDown, Home and End even while you type. What travels with a forward and what does not, who may delete what, why a forward is staged as a draft instead of sent — and, quoted from their documentation, what Slack and Microsoft Teams state about forwarding a message.

How to forward, select and bulk-delete messages in a team chat — and move through the history from the keyboard (2026)

A thread that belongs in another channel, ten test messages to clear, a decision to keep for yourself: if you searched "how to forward a message in a team chat" or "delete multiple messages", the short answer for InterMIND is that every one of those is one gesture — a menu item or a drag — and the forward waits for your comment before it goes. This guide is the full version: the two ways to forward, what travels with a forward, how selection works, who may delete what, and the keyboard.

One property first, because it changes what "forward" means here: a message forwarded to a channel is read by every member of that channel in their own language, whatever language it was written in.

Forward a message

Two ways:

  • From the menu. Open the message's menu → Forward and pick a target from the submenu. Targets are the channels you belong to, plus your own Inbox (shown as "Saved (Inbox)").
  • Drag and drop. Drag the message bubble onto a channel in the sidebar; the row highlights when it will accept the drop.

Either way the forward is staged, not sent: a chip appears above the target chat's input ("Forward N messages"), you type a comment if you want one, and it goes out with your Send. Discard it with the chip's ×.

What travels with a forward, and what does not:

TravelsDoes not travel
Text, images, filesReactions, pins, edit history
A "Forwarded from name" label with the original authorTranscripts (the menu explains this)
A recap document, as a link — opening it still requires membership of the source meeting
A photo album, as one unit; a message that is part of a selection forwards the whole selection

The copy is sent by you, under the original author's name in the label.

Select several messages

Drag on blank space in the message list — beside or between bubbles — to select whole messages; dragging on the text itself keeps the normal text selection. On a touch device, tap messages to toggle them once a selection is active.

A selection bar appears at the bottom with the count and the bulk actions:

  • Forward — the whole selection to a channel, staged as above.
  • Delete — every selected message after one confirmation. Available only when every selected message is yours, or you are the host; when it is locked, the bar says why.
  • Cancel — or Escape, or a click on blank space.

Right-clicking a selected message shows the same selection-scoped actions instead of the single-message menu.

Who may delete what

You delete your own messages; the meeting host can delete any participant's message — the same Delete in the message menu, available on others' messages when you are the host. A deleted message is removed for everyone. Edits are a different story: only the author edits, and readers who enable Show edit history in the chat's display settings see the previous versions as word-level diffs — when they read in translation, the diff is built between translated versions.

Drop a file anywhere

Files go into a chat the same way messages move between them: drop a file anywhere on the app window and it uploads to the chat — a collapsed sidebar opens during the drag and closes after. Up to 25 MB per upload; a document shared this way is summarized automatically and read by each member in their own language. The file sharing documentation has the formats and the storage rules.

Move through the history from the keyboard

When the chat is focused — the in-meeting sidebar or a channel on the Channels page:

KeysWhat they do
PageUp / PageDownPage the history — even while you are typing
/ Scroll a line at a time when the message box is empty (otherwise they move the caret)
Home / EndJump to the oldest / newest message, same rule
Alt/Option + ↑ / ↓Recall your previous / next sent message
Cmd/Ctrl + FChat search; Enter and Shift + Enter step through the matches
Enter / Shift + EnterSend / new line

The full list, including the in-meeting shortcuts, is in the keyboard shortcuts documentation.

FAQ

How do I forward a message to another channel? Open the message's menu and choose Forward, or drag the bubble onto the channel in the sidebar. A chip appears above that chat's input; add a comment if you like and press Send.

Can I forward a message to myself? Yes. Your own Inbox is a forward target, shown as "Saved (Inbox)".

How do I delete several messages at once? Drag on blank space beside the messages to select them, then click Delete in the selection bar and confirm once. Bulk delete is available when every selected message is yours, or when you are the host.

Does a forwarded message keep its reactions and edit history? No. Text, images and files travel; reactions, pins and edit history do not. Transcripts cannot be forwarded.

Can I read old messages while typing a reply? Yes. PageUp and PageDown page the history even while you type; Home and End jump to the oldest and newest message when the message box is empty.
