InterMIND for Slack: how it works — start a meeting with /intermind, get the recap back in the thread (2026)

A team does not leave Slack in a day. It keeps the channels it has and tries a neighbouring tool on one job. The InterMIND app for Slack is built for that one job: the meeting. Type /intermind in a channel, the join link lands there; when the meeting is over, the recap comes back under the same message. Nobody has to open a second chat to find out what was decided.

The short version: one slash command, three permissions, no reading of your channels, no message sync.

What the command does

Anyone in the channel can open the link. A person without an InterMIND account joins as a guest and the host admits them — the same as with any InterMIND meeting link. In the meeting each participant speaks, hears and reads in the language they think in; that part happens in InterMIND, not in Slack.

Where the recap goes

• A meeting started with /intermind gets its recap as a reply in the thread of the message that started it.
• Any other meeting you host goes to the channel you chose with /intermind recaps here — one channel per workspace, per person.
• No channel chosen — nothing is sent to Slack.

The Slack message carries the summary and an Open the recap link. The summary in Slack is written in the recap's language; the link opens the recap in InterMIND, where each reader gets it in their own language. The recap is produced only for a meeting that had speech to summarize — the same rule as for the recap email.

In a private channel or a direct message the app can post only after it is invited (/invite @InterMIND). Until then the join link is still posted, and the recap arrives as a direct message from the app with a note saying why it is not in the channel.

Installing it, and who the host is

The app is added from InterMIND: Settings → Slack → Add to Slack, pick the workspace, approve. The person who adds it is connected right away.

Everyone else connects their own account the first time they use the command: Slack shows them — and only them — a Connect your InterMIND account link. It works for 10 minutes and opens a page that names the Slack user, the workspace and the InterMIND account before anything is connected. Accounts are never matched by email address: a meeting started from Slack is hosted by the account its sender connected, and by nobody else's.

That makes the host question simple. The meeting is yours: your plan, your meeting list, your recap. The app is available on every InterMIND plan.

What the app can and cannot see

The app requests three Slack permissions:

It requests no scope for reading messages, files, channel lists or the member list, so it cannot read them. Slack sends the app two things: the command you typed (with the channel it was typed in) and the notice that the app was removed. When the app is removed from a workspace, InterMIND deletes that workspace's token and every account connection made through it.

One thing to decide consciously: a recap posted to Slack is stored by Slack, under your Slack workspace's retention and data-location settings — not under InterMIND's. If a meeting's recap should stay inside InterMIND, do not start that meeting from Slack and keep recaps here off.

What it does not do

• It does not sync messages between Slack channels and InterMIND channels, in either direction.
• It does not schedule meetings from Slack; /intermind starts a meeting link for now.
• It is not in the Slack Marketplace yet; it is installed from InterMIND Settings.
• Moving a workspace's history over is a separate path: the standard Slack export imports as InterMIND channels — see Moving from Slack.

FAQ

How do I start a video meeting from a Slack channel? With the InterMIND app installed, type /intermind in the channel — optionally followed by a title. The app posts a join link there; anyone in the channel can open it, and the person who typed the command is the host.

Can a meeting recap be posted to Slack automatically? Yes. A meeting started with /intermind gets its recap as a reply in the thread of the join message. For all your other meetings, type /intermind recaps here in the channel that should receive them.

Does the InterMIND app read my Slack messages? No. It requests commands, chat:write and chat:write.public — scopes for adding a command and posting messages. It requests no scope that reads messages, files or members.

Do my teammates need InterMIND accounts? To start a meeting from Slack — yes, each person connects their own account once, because the meeting is hosted by that account. To join a meeting — no: they can join as guests and the host admits them.

Does it work in private channels and direct messages? The command works everywhere. Posting the recap into a private channel needs the app invited there (/invite @InterMIND); otherwise the recap comes to you as a direct message from the app.

Which InterMIND plan includes the Slack app? Every plan. The meeting itself follows the limits of the host's plan.

How do I remove it?Disconnect in InterMIND Settings removes your own connection. A workspace admin removes the app in Slack; InterMIND then deletes the workspace's token and all connections made through it.
