2. Pre-join. Preview your camera, pick the microphone and the speakers, and start muted if you want. This screen shows the first time you join on a device and again whenever your camera, microphone or speaker setup has changed since; after that, later joins go straight into the meeting.
3. Click Join. Signed in, you are in the room. As a guest, a request goes to the host and you wait in the waiting room until they click Admit.

With an account or without one

The host's side, and the five-minute rule

When a guest asks to join, the host sees a notification — "name wants to join" — with Admit and Deny. Both sides see the result instantly. The host has to be in the meeting to admit anyone, and a request that gets no answer within five minutes is declined automatically; the guest can ask again. Several guests can knock at once; the host sees all pending requests.
