How to share your screen in a video meeting: screen, window or tab, from a phone, with a laser pointer (2026)

If you searched "how to share your screen" the short answer is: click Share screen in the control bar, pick what to show — the entire screen, one window, or a single browser tab — and click Share. That is the whole procedure in InterMIND, in the browser, with nothing to install. Everything else in this guide is what happens next: what the room sees, how you point at things, how it works from a phone, what stays after the call, and where the same job stops in Google Meet and Microsoft Teams — quoted from their own documentation, checked September 2026.

The room can be in any mix of languages. That is a property of every InterMIND meeting, not a setting of screen sharing: whatever you say over your slides, each participant hears in their own language, and it is in the recap afterwards in theirs.

Share your screen in three steps

1. Click Share screen in the meeting control bar. On a narrow window the button moves into the More menu.
2. Pick what to show. The browser opens its own picker with three choices:
   • Entire screen — everything visible on your display.
   • Application window — one application, nothing else.
   • Browser tab — one tab. A tab brings its audio along, which is what you want when you play a video or a recording.
3. Click Share. You are presenting.

To stop, click Stop screen sharing — one click, your camera is back where it was.

There is no extension and no plugin: sharing runs in the browser, on Chrome, Edge and Firefox. The desktop app adds a native picker and, on macOS, system audio for whole-screen shares.

What everyone sees

Participants see your shared screen as the main display; your camera moves to a smaller tile. Viewers keep their own zoom — Zoom to fit or Original size — because the content is never re-encoded on the way to them: it stays as sharp as what you captured.

While you share, the arrow next to Share opens Presenter mode — how your camera sits with your content on everyone else's screen. You pick it once, and every participant sees the layout you chose, including the person who joins in the middle of your talk.

The mode needs your camera on; with the camera off, everyone stays on Content only until you turn it back on. Your camera is shown as it is — InterMIND does not cut you out of your background.

Point at what you mean: the laser pointer

"Third row, on the left" is how people point at a shared screen when the tool gives them nothing better. In InterMIND you hold the pointer over the shared view and draw. A comet trail follows your cursor; when you release, the whole stroke fades over a duration derived from how long you pressed — a deliberate circle lingers, a quick flick vanishes.

The trail is streamed to the room and drawn relative to the shared video, not to your monitor. So the same point is marked on a phone, a laptop and an ultrawide — it lands on the right pixel for each viewer, whatever their screen size. Each person draws in their own colour.

Drawing the pointer is a web and desktop feature today; on a phone you see everyone else's trails live, and you can share your own screen from the phone (next section).

From a phone

The iOS and Android apps share your phone screen the way the browser shares a laptop screen: start sharing in the app, and the room sees it as the main display. On the receiving side a shared screen on a phone can be pinched to zoom and viewed in landscape. The step-by-step, with the apps' own share sheets, is in the apps documentation.

Several presenters, and who is allowed to share

More than one participant can share at the same time; each share carries the presenter mode its presenter picked. Screen sharing is a per-participant permission the host controls — you can hand it to one presenter and take it back afterwards, or leave it open for the whole room.

Guests join by the meeting link without an account and see the shared screen like everyone else. What they do not get is the part that comes after the call — the recap and the history go to signed-in members.

What was said over the slides stays

A screen share is the part of the meeting that disappears the moment you stop it. What was said over it does not. After every transcribed InterMIND meeting the signed-in participants get the recap — the AI summary and the full transcript — and each of them reads the summary in their own language.

If you need the pixels as well, there are two recordings, both in the More menu:

A local recording captures your microphone, the tab audio — other participants' voices and translations — and the screen content, and never touches team storage. The full rules, including storage limits per plan, are in the screen sharing and recording documentation.

Where the same job stops in Google Meet and Microsoft Teams

Two documented maps, quoted, with the check date. Nothing here is an evaluation; a feature a vendor's page does not mention is recorded as exactly that.

The rows are drawn from the two support pages listed in the footer; a row that says "not mentioned" means the page did not mention it at check time, not that the product lacks it.

FAQ

How do I share my screen with audio? Share a browser tab: a tab brings its audio along, so a video playing in that tab is heard by the room. For a whole-screen share, the desktop app on macOS adds system audio.

Can I share my screen from my phone? Yes. The iOS and Android InterMIND apps share the phone screen, and the room sees it as the main display. Drawing the laser pointer is a web and desktop feature; on a phone you see other people's trails live.

Can two people share their screen at the same time? Yes. Several participants can share at once, and each share carries the presenter mode its presenter chose. The host decides who may share — it is a per-participant permission.

Does everyone see the laser pointer in the same place? Yes. Pointer positions are stored relative to the shared video frame rather than to your monitor, so the same point is marked on a phone, a laptop and an ultrawide. The stroke fades on its own when you release; a long press leaves a mark that lingers.

Do participants need an account to see my screen? No. Guests join by the meeting link without an account and see the shared screen like everyone else. The recap and the meeting's history after the call go to signed-in members.

Is the shared screen recorded? Only if someone records. A moderator can start a server recording into the team's storage; anyone whose browser supports screen capture can start a local recording that downloads to their own device. Without a recording, what stays is the recap: the summary and transcript of what was said, in each member's language.
